A Blend of Practicality and Creativity in Online Shopping
Amazon is redefining the online shopping experience with its innovative AI feature in mobile apps for both iOS and Android users. Still in the testing phase, this new chatbot is designed to answer specific product-related queries, offering insights on dimensions, durability, and more. Yet, the chatbot's capabilities extend beyond the mundane; it can generate Christmas carols about snow boots, jokes about flash card readers, and even narrate bedtime stories about hard drives. Take a look below 👇️
Interactive Shopping with a Twist
The AI tool, accessible through the questions box on product pages, showcases Amazon's creative leap in customer interaction. While it maintains a professional demeanor – explicitly avoiding flirtatious behavior – it engages users with witty and imaginative responses. This feature, although limited to product-related queries, adds a unique touch to the otherwise straightforward process of online shopping.
Amazon's AI Expansion: Beyond Retail
Amazon's venture into AI extends to various domains. The retail giant now employs large language models to summarize product reviews, detect fake reviews, and even assist customers in choosing clothing sizes. Amazon is also exploring generative AI through its enterprise cloud division, AWS, including the Titan Image Generator for text-to-image prompts and partnerships with major AI models like Meta’s Llama 2 and Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion.

Microsoft has announced that its AI-powered reading tool, Reading Coach, is now freely accessible to anyone with a Microsoft account. Initially part of Teams for Education, Reading Coach assists learners in developing reading fluency by identifying challenging words and offering individualized practice tools like text-to-speech and picture dictionaries. The tool allows educators to track student progress and has recently been enhanced with a “choose your own story” feature, using Azure OpenAI Service for personalized narrative adventures. Despite some skepticism from educators about AI's efficacy in teaching reading comprehension, Microsoft remains optimistic about the tool's potential for personalized learning. With over 300,000 users since its launch, Recraft focuses on professional-grade vector images and raster images, offering unique style control for brand consistency. Founder Anna Veronika Dorogush emphasizes Recraft's focus on professional needs and style consistency, differentiating it from other tools that might use artists' styles without permission. 📱 Google's Bard AI Joins Messages: An Assistant for Texts, Translations, and More
Google is integrating an AI feature into Google Messages, enhancing the app with capabilities like message drafting, language translation, image identification, and interest exploration. Discovered through an APK Insight, Bard appears as a standalone chat within Google Messages, offering functionalities such as suggesting books, drafting packing lists, and crafting recipes based on available ingredients. Users can interact with Bard using specific prompts and give feedback on its responses. However, conversations with Bard are not end-to-end encrypted and may be used by Google to improve its services, with data potentially reviewed and retained for up to three years.
