🚀 ChatGPT Integrates Direct GPT Invocation

OpenAI has introduced a transformative feature for ChatGPT users: the ability to invoke third-party GPTs directly within chats. This enhancement, available to paid subscribers, allows users to integrate diverse GPTs seamlessly into ongoing conversations. By simply typing “@” followed by the GPT’s name, users can bring specialized AI tools into the dialogue, each with a full understanding of the conversation's context. Take a look at how it works below ⤵️

Expanding the GPT Ecosystem

Alongside this new feature is the recently launched GPT Store, a marketplace hosting a variety of GPTs for different applications. This store represents a significant move in making AI applications more accessible. Users can access GPTs ranging from travel guides to educational aids catering to a wide array of needs. Importantly, creating GPTs for the store doesn’t require extensive coding skills, broadening the potential for diverse developer contributions.

Challenges and Future Directions

Despite the promising integration, OpenAI faces challenges like moderation and generating sufficient traffic for these custom GPTs. The company’s moderation capabilities are being tested with the influx of new GPTs, some of which have violated OpenAI’s policies.

🎤 Personalized Learning Revolution

Studio, an emerging rival to MasterClass, has launched its AI-driven online music school, offering a unique, personalized learning experience for musicians, songwriters, and producers. The platform, powered by OpenAI's GPT-4, creates customized curriculums based on individual interests, goals, and schedules. Priced at $199 per month or $1,799 per year, Studio's Music School features lessons from over 110 renowned artists across various genres and subjects. The AI coach, enhanced by proprietary frameworks, addresses educational design challenges, ensuring effective learning pacing and personalization. This innovative approach aims to cater to creatives with foundational skills seeking advanced training, providing them with tools and community feedback to produce release-ready songs. 📚 Educating Families on AI: OpenAI's New Partnership with Common Sense Media

OpenAI has partnered with Common Sense Media, a nonprofit organization focused on the impact of media and tech on children. Together, they will develop AI guidelines and educational materials for parents, educators, and young adults. OpenAI aims to curate family-friendly GPTs in its GPT Store, adhering to Common Sense Media's standards. The collaboration seeks to educate families on the safe, responsible use of AI tools like ChatGPT and to avoid unintended consequences of emerging technologies. This partnership comes amidst growing concerns from regulators about the societal impact of generative AI tools and data-handling practices.

🗞️ The New York Times ventures into AI

The New York Times is assembling a team led by the newly appointed Zach Seward to explore the role of generative AI in journalism. This initiative involves hiring a blend of machine learning engineers, software engineers, designers, and editors. The goal is to prototype AI applications for reporting and reader engagement, ensuring the core of journalism – writing, editing, and reporting – remains firmly in human hands. The Times, known for its cautious approach to AI after suing OpenAI and Microsoft over content scraping, is yet to decide on partnering with an AI model provider or developing in-house tools. This move reflects a growing trend among news organizations to integrate AI, balancing innovation with journalistic integrity.
