nowflake has established itself as a top data cloud provider. Now, it’s partnering with OpenAI to bring AI-powered data insights to users.
On Monday, the companies announced a multi-year, $200 million partnership that will further integrate OpenAI's tools into Snowflake's platform for both employees and clients. Additionally, the companies join forces to advance AI agent solutions for enterprises.
Under the terms of the partnership:
- OpenAI models will be available to Snowflake customers via Snowflake Cortex AI, the company’s suite of AI features, across all three major clouds and within the company’s proprietary agent, Snowflake Intelligence.
- The partnership is largely focused on deploying better agentic solutions to enterprises. As a result, the companies will work together to deploy new features within Snowflake that leverage OpenAI’s latest agentic technology such as OpenAI apps SDK, AgentKit. The goal is also to help companies build their own agents.
- It will also deepen the existing collaboration, with OpenAI using Snowflake as a data platform for “experiment tracking, analytics, and testing,” while Snowflake deploys OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise product internally.
“As mutual customers, OpenAI and Snowflake’s engineering teams are collaborating closely to drive improvements of each other’s technology," said Baris Gultekin, Vice President of AI at Snowflake, to The Deep View. "With OpenAI already leveraging Snowflake as a secure, scalable data platform for its own technology stack, this means our technical teams have another channel for rich collaboration and innovation."
Nearly two weeks ago, OpenAI signed a deal with ServiceNow that followed a similar structure. The multi-year agreement deepened the companies’ existing relationship, with OpenAI models being chosen as the preferred intelligence capability for ServiceNow enterprise customers and a focus on developing more helpful agentic solutions for customers.
